Hsu Chen Wei Dance Company is a dance group in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. It was formally established in the summer of 2015. Chen-Wei was born in the second generation of the Hsu family who runs the funeral industry. He often jokes that “the cemetery is my playground”, and that time scene promoted Chen-Wei to inspire and connect “life and death” out of the ordinary. In his creations in recent years, he hopes to reflect on the meaning of living through dance, share and communicate with audiences around the world, and discuss the reality and dance of life together.
“Returning to the truth, and being flexible” is the core body vocabulary in Hsu Chen Wei’s creation. He tries to test the energy contained in the body, return to the purity of the body's movements, dig out the unknown foundation of the body's rigidity and flexibility, and extend it to life and the philosophical horizons of existence. Therefore, he establishes the style aesthetics of Hsu Chen Wei and the dance company.
In recent years, the company has been active in publishing works on various stages and art festivals at home and abroad. We proposed the concept of “taking a step back from dance and starting from the body” to lead the public to look at the essence of dance from the body, and gradually analyze what dance is. The company held the “My Dancebody Project”, the dancing workshop, for a long time. We allow the public from different fields to experience and learn dancing, and promote the aesthetic concept of dance as life.

・In 2019 work “Purgatory” was invited to perform at the Musée Quai Branly in Paris, France.
・In 2018 work “Being Not Being” was invited to perform at the Seoul International Dance Festival & HOT POT in South Korea.
・In 2018 work “The Sacrifice of Roaring” was invited to perform at the Macau CDE Springboard.
・In 2018 work “Being Not Being” was invited to perform at Chiayi New Dance Style by Wen Shyang Dance Company.
・In 2018 work “The Sacrifice of Roaring” was invited to perform at the CoDance Festival by SunShier Dance Theatre.
